Winnipeg has a rich and varied history and is known for its friendly and welcoming spirit. An aboriginal trading center before the arrival of Europeans, Winnipeg was at the heart of Canada's fur trade and instrumental in developing Canada's gateway to the west. Home to a grain exchange that once rivaled the largest markets in the world, Winnipeg's architecture reflects the profound character of this small prairie town.
Travel from Winnipeg to Churchill | Flight + Cultural & Heritage Tour
This morning, head to the airport for a flight to Churchill via shuttle bus. On arrival at Churchill Airport, be greeted by a Lazy Bear Lodge guide and transferred to the lodge, where you will check-in, meet your hosts for the next few days, settle in, and then embark on an exploration of local culture and history with visits to sites such as Cape Merry or the jail - a temporary detention facility for polar bears living too close to town during feeding season. Back at Lazy Bear Lodge, meet a real-life dog musher and be entertained by their amusing stories about the history of dog mushing. Or take part in a short but exhilarating one-mile ride this evening where you can watch for the Northern Lights!

After lunch, we'll go for an afternoon stroll through Churchill's bountiful boreal forest with its spectacular autumnal colors before returning to town at dusk, where you'll watch another awe-inspiring show from Mother Nature herself!
Experience the wonder of nature up close! Take to the water today on a boat tour in search of these enchanted creatures, known as Beluga Whales. Hop onto an all-terrain vehicle and explore this vast region with our brand-new cars made just for these types of journeys. You'll be able to see many animals, such as arctic foxes, ptarmigans, and arctic hares, and you may even spot some polar bears along the way! As usual, this morning we will have some free time before we depart from Winnipeg in the afternoon. Now at least, the time comes when we complete our journey and say goodbye to each other. We had a good time during our trip and left each other with best wishes.
